Senators/Congressmen Experiences

After another exciting installment of "Let's call NCSC", I have decided to write my congressmen/senator or call. I have no question about the format of the inquiry, as I will attempt the phone first and I believe I can word a good formal inquiry in writing.

My question is has anyone done this in PA and what are you experiences as far as response time and the office being generally forthcoming are? Both experiences with senators and congressmen are welcome, PA would be preferable, if senator, please name (Specter or Santorum).

Update

Well, to reply my own post :) I contacted the congressmens office this morning and spoke to a pleasant and professional person who told me he will check and get back to me. He did indeed follow-up the same afternoon and he mentioned that my case will most likely take another 6 months (April 16 ND). I was asked for A#, EAC# and name and address (to make sure I am a constituent, probably).

The response time has me a little worried, as I do hope he really called the office and got such a quick response.

I had sent an email to Sen. Rick Santorum through his web site. They got back to me in about a week requesting EAC#, DOB, etc. However, I told them to hold off on the inquiry and that I will wait for another month or so. I waited hoping my case would be approved soon. After about 3 months I sent them an email asking them to proceed with the inquiry. They got back to me in about 12 days (on 2/24/04) with the details from USCIS which asked us to wait for 60 days.

Well, in PA both the Senators are Republicans so it doesn't really matter. I might be wrong, but in my opinion Senators usually are more influential and powerful than Congressmen.

True, Santorum and Specter. I am still concerned about my wait time of 4 hours, though. It sounds like the person might have waited and then just gave a canned answer without even contacting the VSC... or perhaps they are just that good, hope for number 2.

I am hoping to get approved soon, as I might have to move to the Texas SC jurisdiction, which would add even more time to my processing.
