There might be an immigration reform introduced to Senate shortly. If this Immigration reform act of 2006 is passed, it will bring big relief to retrogressed applicants. Likely to br presented to Senate Judiciary on March 2, 2006.

Some main points in this reform are:

Increase of employment-based immigrant quota from 140,000 to 290,000 with the allocations in EB-1=15%, EB-2=15%, EB-3 Skilled Worker/Professional=35%, Other Worker (Unskilled)=Upto 30%, and EB-4 Investor Immigrant=5%.

Recapture of employment-based immigration visa numbers since FY 2001

Exempt from the employment-based numerical limitation of the spouses and children of the EB immigrants

Guys lets hope that it gets passed without any modifications. Keep your fingers crossed.

It is a long way before it gets passed. First Senate, then Congress, then singed by the President. By the time it reaches its final state (if ever) it will be a completely different bill, and all of us will be middle aged men.

there is an active thread in the "Retrogression" section

Guys and Gals

There is an active thread in the retrogression portal - check there.

One thing highlighted there is that this bill eliminates section 5 of INA added under AC21 - which basically means, visa overflow within categories will be eliminated i.e. if there are EB2 visas available for Rest of world, they will not flow to retrogressed countries.
