Self employment using EAD

My wife and myself have EAD. Our I-485 is pending approval, more than 180 days. I-140 have already been approved in Dec 2002. Currently I am working using my EAD, as employer & attorney suggested.

My wife has an offer to work on contract, without W2. They will give a 1099 instead of W2. That is like a self employment consulting. Is she allowed to work self-employed using the EAD. If so, how do we file tax returns for her self-employed income? Will INS need any additional information for our processing due to this?

Appreciate your help and advice.

Thanks!

Yes, she is allowed to be self employed, no problem.
You file returns showing both your incomes. Include her 1099 income in your joint return and also make sure that she pays social security and medicare taxes herself. Since she is on 1099 it is her responsibility to pay for these and other taxes (state, federal income taxes). Check with a tax practitioner.
Her employment will not be an issue at all for immigration purposes.
