Selective Services letter

Hello,

I become eligible to apply for citizenship in the last week of September'09.

I was on my F-1 followed by H-1 until 28yrs old. Based on what I read in this forum, technically I don't need the selective services letter. However, just to be pro-active (and since I have some time on hand), I sent the SS office a complete packet of my documents. I was under the impression that I would have to repeatedly prod them multiple times...to get the letter. I figured, by the time all that happens, it will be my interview time (which might be some time next year...assuming every thing else goes smoothly).

Surprisingly, I got the letter from them today stating that I am exempt from registering. Now my question is if I have my interview sometime next year (again assuming all other prior steps complete quickly), would this letter still be valid at that time?

Thanks,
Speedy

You will be fine since SS registration does not apply to F1 and H1B folks. USCIS would also know that.
