Selective service !!

I have interview in two months.I havent registered with selective service because I just simply didnt knew about this requirement and never received al letter about it.
How can I explain this to the officer ? In all applications I have checked "That I'm ready to fight for USA....". I went to Selective Service website to register but I'm over 26 and under 31.
Is there any solution to this problem ?
 
It depends on the immigration officer. Althought generally "didn't know" isn't a good enough reason for not being registered with Selective Service.

Hey u need to get a "status information letter" from the selective Service...all u need to do is call 1 847 688 688 and explain to them your situation. They will send you a response in less than 2 wks...but u should have this letter with u to take to your interview........My husband was in the same situation..... since he wasnt aware of it his case is now put in 'continued' so to prevent this from delaying your case u need to call the Selective Service.
