Hi all.
I came to know of the selective service only after I go the
interview letter for citizenship. My interview is on 07/28.

I went through all the possible threads but still confused.
I was in US from ages 23-32 as a non-immigrant(F-1/H-1)
and then as immigrant after that.

Do I really need to take a letter from sss.gov. Is that I
requirement.? Can I just got to the interview and
show my all previous I-20s, H-1's etc..

I can get the letter from sss.gov but only if is really needed.
The letter I got from USCIS does state that I have to bring
the proof of selective service registration..

Thanks

you did not need to register because you were on a non-immigrant status. however, if you want to have a letter to prove that you did not need it, like black and white on paper, you can request it.

the letter from USCIS is a template. i believe everyone gets the same wordings.

my interview letter mentions about the same. prior i got the interview letter, for sake of my own peace, i requested a letter from sss and i received it within a week or so. the letter from sss mentioned i did not have to register.
