Selective service clarification for my case

Hi everyone:

Judging by the sticky post this selective service must be coming up a lot on this site. I wish they formulated that question on the N-400 form a little bit better. Unfortunately I've done my green card application quite a long time ago and I don't remember all the terminology all that well by now. Can someone help me out with this?

I'm currently filling out the N-400 citizenship form and I'm concerned about item G. Selective Service Registration.

Here's my timeline:

Born in 1978 -- now age 35.

2002 - Arrived in US with a worker visa.
2002 - 2008 - (Ages 24 thru 30) Was continuously in US on a worker visa. I think it was called H1B1.
May 2008 - Received the green card. Lived in US continuously since then.

I currently filled out N-400 item G as such (see screenshot):

Does H1B1 visa mean "lawful nonimmigrant"?

In either case, any insight would be appreciated...

@Jackolantern: Thanks for your quick reply. So to answer the question "33. Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant?" in my case would be "No", correct?

Answer: NO. You received your GC AFTER you turned 26, so there was never a need for you to register

The way it is worded, receiving the GC after 26 doesn't necessarily exempt you from registering. Men who are unlawfully present in the 18-26 age range also have to register.

Of course, this isn't a concern for the OP, as he was present with a nonimmigrant visa.

My question answer also resolved with this posting.

Here is my case.

I came to US in 2000 on H1B - Age 25
Received Green Card on 2005 - Age 30

Based on the above replies I have to select "NO" to Selective Service question 33.

Thank You,
