Security Check

Hi, everybody. I'm in Miami. I went to interview on Feb/24/06. The officer told me that I have to wait for security check. I asked her for how long, she said it takes 6 months. Two days ago, my co-worker has a friend she works for a congressman, she helped me to check my case, and today the message came back and said it still showing security check and takes 6 months. She said it's normal to take 6 months for security check. Has anybody ever heard that security check takes that long? What should I do? Wait for the 6 full months? Please give me some suggestions. Thanks a lot.
