Security Check

My lawyer received a letter from USCIS

"Your clients cases are in security check.All cases received since 9/11/01 have to go through a security check.This security check can take an unspecified amount of time.Once the security check has been completed your clients cases will be processed".

USCIS says don't call me , I will call you.

Does this mean I can say goodbye to my application?

Is there any hope in even in the distant future for my application ?

Should I pack my bags instead of withstanding this depressing, frustrating , indefinite wait?

Has anyone in this forum received a similar letter and been in this situation?

I think security check is for everyone

I am not sure why you received a letter like that ( did you make a formal inquiry about your case with CIS?) but I think everyone has to go through security check.
Sure it takes "unspecified" amount of time but for most, it will eventually finish.

I have the same case - under security check

I-485 RD Feb 25, 2003

I made an inquiry and received a letter saying exactly same thing. Is this same thing as name check? how long does it takes? They are processing cases after my RD. Please share your experiences!!

I am dependent, wife was approved a year back
Got same letter-case is in security check. Well, they have to do security check before approval, again. So maybe this is second time they are doing this and approval is on the way
