Folks, could someone shed light on this? I had my fingerprints taken in Nov 2004. A few days later my status change online and I got an email, saying
"Current Status:
On November 4, 2004, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made."
I thought that this meant my fingerprints were checked at FBI and USCIS had received the results. But a few months passed and nothing happened, then I called INS and made an inquiry. In March 2005 I received a response saying
"The processing of your petition/application has been delayed. All petitions/applications received by this Service are required to have routine security checks that are resulting in delays of the adjudication of petitions/applications. As a result of the lack of manpower to complete the checks in a timely manner, we have no control over how long these checks will take. We can give no definite indication of when they will be completed."
Now I am not sure, am I right thinking that FBI have done their job and passed the results of the check to USCIS, or my case is stuck at the FBI? Anyone in the same situation?
Thanks.
