I initiated an enquiry for myself, my wife and my daughter as our 485 receipt date fell outside the NSC processing date. In my duaghter case, they have replied that it is delayed due to security check and ask me contact them after 6 months of this letter. I am puzzled. I thought they do not carry out any checks on kids. Strangely enough, in my wife's case their response was fingerprinting and biometrics is compleleted and the case is waiting to be assigned to an officer. I am not sure what they mean by "completed". Is here background check completed. I contacted USCIS and "helpful" officer said: I have to to interpret the words the way they are written.
