Does anyone know about security check during CP?

I've been told that the security check is conducted randomly and it might happen when you go to India for your interview.
In that case they will give you a provisional LPR but you have to come back to US on your non-immigrant visas.

Is anyone aware about this??
please share any information you might have about this.

If your name has a "HIT" on any of the FBI/law enforcement database, there will be a delay in issuing a visa. The consulate has to wait for a full report from FBI/other agencies. If that happens, you will have to wait for that process to be completed. You will NOT get a provisional LPR status (there is NO such thing). If your NIV is not canceled, you can return to US.

nkm-oct23,

Aren't all the FBI check, fraud check, name check done before the case is sent to the US Consulate in the applicant's home country? Or there another FBI check also done at the US consulate in the applicant's home country.

Thanks.

Security Checks

I think the security checks might be more likely for the people who are going for AC-140 route like me. As the checks are not done here in US, might have get into that check. But i am not sure about this new process.

Please can anyone enlighten us on this process, anyone who has faced this in AC-140 Routes if they know any.
Thanks,
VinCP.

Security check

I believe this process has been shuffled several times in the recent past. Now I think the security checks are being conducted
as part of I-140 approval.

Some of the cases may belong to the time when these checks were not done at that point.

My thoughts only.

my lawyer is also not entirely sure when the security checks are being done. but she said that the security checks can be done at any time and more likely than not, it happens at or after the immigrant visa interview. she also cited a case of someone who was stuck in india because of the security checks. something came up in ther security check and the consulate cancelled that guy's visa and hence that person had to wait in india. ( i think he is still waiting).
so.. this is definitely a big cause of concern, don't u guys think ?

Jayanagar1 did get the visa

Just yesterday Jayanager1 posted that the visa was issued to him after a high profile chase with the senators in US and big guns in India. Jayanagar1 was caught up with a name mixed up issue. I think this kind of hick-ups do happen in once a while as no system in the world is 100% error proof/free.

This shouldn't make prospective CPers to spend sleepless nights on this kind of issue but surely a well informed decision about the pros and cons of the CP route should be made.

Thanks.
