Hi
I have read on some forums that the FBI has a self imposed deadline of clearing backlog of security checks by August 05. Is it true? What is the source of this and where can I find this information?
Thanks
Where did you read this? I really doubt those agencies (FBI and USCIS) can do this kind of self-discipline. That's not their style and cultrual, never! Their style is to make simple job complicated then try to simplify it but never succeed.

I don't remember the detials but it was posted in some forums at this site. When someone contacted his congresman they told him about this. I have not seen many posts related to this though that is why I was curious.
I am in the same boat. I heard from the local congressman's office that FBI has a self imposed deadline of Aug '05 to eliminate the namecheck backlog. Hopefully this is accurate information.
My local senator office told me that the deadline most likely refer to the name checks requested before Jan 2003. The good news is: it is unlikely that a name check will last more than 2 years. It is really depressing, guys.
I did notice in FBI response emails, they used to mention the extra 2.7 million name checks have slowed down other processing. This didn't show up in the recent emails. Maybe they have cleared up those name checks?
