Second travel with AP...what to expect?

I am going to Canada tomorrow and will use my AP to come back to the US. My first trip with the AP and the secondary inspection happened 3 weeks ago.
What happens for all subsequent trips outside the USA?

Supposely you give I-94 on the way out and show your AP on the way in. Never tried though
 
2nd time entry using AP is much faster than the 1st time using AP[though u have to undergo secondary inspection, which this time would be fast..]
 
Can I just drive to Canada and back with valid I-94 if it is just a one day trip?

The situation is quite interesting:
- First trip with AP (June, 2003). Got new I-94 and AP got stamped. On I-94, it says valid until June, 2004
- on AP, it says it expires until Oct, 2003
- So what happens after Oct, 2003?
