Second fingerprinting

My I-140 (EB1-B) was filed with NSC in 2002, approved in late 2003. I-485 was filed Dec 2003. First fingerprints (of all fingers) were taken in June 04. Second set of fingerprints (fingerprints of one finger only) were taken with photographs and signature on June 8, 2005. Fingerprint people said that the photographs are the final ones for the physical green card, and volunteered information that they think the case is already approved, based on a "code 2" in the box on the second line of the 'Fingerprint Notification I-797C' from USCIS. They also thought I could try to get our passports stamped at this point. Is this correct? Website says nothing.

I need to travel out of the country this summer. Any difficulties with that? Would appreciate any advice or experiences that anyone can share.. :)
 
Biometrics

Same situation here. I also have received code 2 FP notice for July. Don't know how should I interpret this reg. 485 approval.
 
my thought on this is that this is not an approval. Yes, I heard on this forum that the biometrics would be used for the actual card but no body knows how long it takes to get 485 approved and card arrival after biometrics.

Any idea?

My I-140/I-485 were filed around 04/05/2005. I got original finger print notification immediately afterwards and my fingerprints were available to USCIS on June 15th Itself. And around Aug 20th, I went for bio-metrics Code 01 and finished that. Probably that is a prelude to approval, but not an approval by itself, that's what many said. And for Nov 23rd, I got another notice for code 01 finger printing, I think it is the same as my first fingerprinting I did when I filed my 140/485. Anyway, just keeping my fingers crossed.
