Second Biometrics Failure - What can be expected next?

My second fingerprinting biometrics failed. The reason is that the fingerprints provided to the FBI are not good enough for them to be read. What can I expect next? I read on these forums that the next step would be obtaining a police report for the past five years. But I have also read about people that keep on going back for more biometrics, 3rd, 4th, 5th, even a 7th appointment. Is this another one of those USCIS random things where some people will be asked for another biometrics and some others be asked for a police report?

As a side note, when I was getting my fingerprinting done, the computer kept on saying "reject" but the USCIS employee just hit the override button. That bothered me and I mentioned it but the employee insisted that she knew what she was doing.

*I have not received any sort of confirmation that my case is resumed and have had no "touches" since 6/25/10 on all the other parts of my application with the exception of my I-485 (the part that the RFE was requested for).
