scheduling consular processing interview

My I-140 is approved and priority date is January 6, 1999 and Notice date is December 28, 2000.

I had received a letter from US Department of State-National Visa Center. It stated that NVC has completed its processing of this case and further inquiries should be addressed to Consular Post at Mumbai. It was also mentioned that each applicant must complete OF-230 Part I and OF-169 forms and send them directly at consular post in Mumbai for an interview to be scheduled.

Please let me know what documents I should send to Mumbai consulate to schedule a Consular Processing Interview and where will I find these forms.

I would appreciate all your help in this case. I need to get this over in next couple of months. Is it possible? Awaiting for your responses.
Thanks

It is not clear from what you stated, whether your case is a regular Consular process or an Attorney certified I-140, and
when your I-140 was approved.

If this is a recent case, you should have paid the visa
issuance fee to the NVC office at St.Louis.

But the forms numbers you quoted are certainly wrong. The current versions of these forms are:

DS-230 Part I - Biographic Data
DS-230 Part II - Sworn Statement - which you will have to sign in front of the consular officer at the time of interview.
( the above were referred to as OF 230 I & II before )

DS-2001 Instructions for immigrant visa applicants

You should check the boxes against all the documents that
pertain to your case and sign it before sending.
( this form was called as OF-169 earlier )

Having said this, it would be good to know some details about your case. You will find the list of forms in the forum.

I am not an attorney!

Hello Raju,
Thanks for the reply. My I-140 was approved in Dec 2000 and I had received this letter from NVC through my Attorney on Jan 30, 2001. The process was being done by our attorney. But I want to do this last stage myself instead of going through attorney. Is it not possible? Thanks for the information regarding the forms to be used: DS-230 Part I and DS 2001.
What details you want in my case which will be helpful. I will really appreciate further inputs from you. Thanks
Shri

First I would advise you to proceed with caution.

I am not an expert to guide you all through the process. However I will give my input where ever I am confident about the subject.
The time line in your case looks out of the ordinary.

TAKE THE HELP of some senior members, who have handled the last stage themselves, without the assistance of an attorney.
( Member 'BAPA' is one that I can think of .. , but right now he would be busy with his own interview ..)

Refer to your other thread, for the forms.

Good luck!

Raju

Hello Raju,
I have got the forms DS-230 Part I and DS-2001 from immihelp.com as you had suggested. Thanks
I had emailed my details with case number to Immigrant Visa Center, Mumbai embassy and they have replied back and asked to fill the forms in packet 3, sign it and send it back and they will schedule interview in 8-10 weeks. So I think I need to fill up form DS-230 Part I and DS-2001 and send it to mumbai embassy. Do I need to send the P3 Letter and I-140 original or copies? Any Idea? Is there anything else you want to suggest? Thanks for your help,

Shrikant

I believe, apart from DS-230 Part I and DS-2001 you have to send
some form, in cases where you have discontinued the services of your attorney. I am not sure.

You would not send any of the other documents listed in DS 2001
they are all supposed to be carried and shown at the time of interview. I-140 is not a required document for the interview, however you may carry it for the interview.

Some where in the forum there was a posting from BAPA about the forms he was sending to Bombay consulate. Check this out.
