Please if people who have been through the H1 stamping process at the US consulates in Canada recently answer my following question:

I may have to go to do my 2nd H1 stamping if I dont get me advance parole in time for my trip to India. I was interested in knowing normally what are the lead times (how much before you have to make an appointment) at the following consulates:
1. Toronto
2. Ottawa
3. Calgury
4 Vancouver

thanking you all. this will help me and others in similar situation...

thanks for the prompt reply...but i dont want to put passport numbers and create an account when i may not have to go to get the visa....

I think only consulates in your home country will be able to stamp visa for you. In my expereince Canada Consulates are not issuing visas to foreign born Nationals. In other words you may have to go to the Cosnulate where your initial visa was issued.

You can get your visa stamped in border posts in Canada or Mexico. If you just wanted to check the availablility , you can give a test passport number ( I am avoiding using 'fake' pp number). They do not validate the pp number. The border posts claim that they will take a month to process your case if your education is outside of USA or Canada, since it takes longer to verify Indian education. Hope this helps.

I got my visa revalidated in Ottawa on 1/5/04. They returned my PP on the same day. I have a US masters degree.

I had booked the appointment in 3rd week of Nov. At that time the earliest available date was 1/2/04 (with not many slots open) and the next date was 1/5/04. So I would guess you need to book an appointment atleast a month in advance.

thankyou very much sdrblr for sharing your experience @ottawa...
i would appreciate if somebody else can share their experience either @ottawa or other consulates...

thanking you all...
