Hi,

We got our GC stamped on Mar 11th and got our approval about 10 days before that. My husband worked for his sposoring company for 3 years and they treated him like crap ( no raise, no bonus). NOw after he received his GC they have given him an immediate 20% raise making it equal to today's salary scale. He has received a very good offer (about 20-25% more). Is it advisable to change now or should he wait a little longer?

I appreciate your time, I will take your suggestions seriously. So please respond.
Thanks
Maha

tough call

this seems to be an area of constant speculation.

there is nothing in the law that says you have to stay with your employer.

however the problem is that if he leaves now it can appear as though he was there solely to get his gc.

Therefore there needs to be at least a little time just to make it look as though it was legitamate.

how much time is anyone's guess

the general consensus here is 6 months to 1 year.

once again that is just speculation

good luck

Is this what happens often....
same happened with me.....
got at the most 2-3% raise for last 3-4 yrs....
however this year after my GC got approved got a raise of 15%...
I thaught it was because of my work or company profits...etc...until I read this post.
Did anybody experience the same.
this raise really sucks then!!!

dude, a raise is a raise is a raise... build a few months of continuted employment with your sponsoring employer as a safety buffer, then kick 'em in the shins (or elsewhere if you fancy), and off riding into the sunset you go - colt, stetson an' all.
