Anybody has any information in getting an AP on the same day? I want to go to India to get a marriage certificate in the worst case.
 
You must be kidding ! If you give the amount of money that you will spend going to India and come back to the Marriage Registrar ... He will personally come and hand it over to you in the US at your doorstep !!! :D :D
 
Go to your local Government office in US, and apply for marriage certificate. You will get it on the same day.

I don't think you will get that. One of my friend got AP after 7 months (with 1 RFE)
Just calculate time for your RFE and apply for AP.
That will be valid for a year.
At least you will be on safer side if you had to go.

Only if we are married in the US. We were married in India according to the religious ceremonies.

I got RFE for Marriage Certificate.

I presume you are already married and your spouse is here with you in US. If so, why dont u go to Las vegas and get married and get a marraige certificate? Now if you object to getting married in a church, for whatever reasons, parochial and personal, I don't have anything else to say to help you. All the best on the AP.

Thanks for the info. The problem is that my wife is here in the US through H4 visa. How can I marry at Las Vegas and prove now that we are married now? This will contradict with whatever we said to the INS prior to this that we are married. In my case the INS is asking for Marriage Certificate from the Marriage Regitrar in India.
 
the best way is not to panic and you should have some time and contacts in India use those and get your things done. Dont talk about impossible things??

You don't need to get marry again...but tell them that you want to register your marriage...that's it...you may need to pay the fee...that's it. You may need to get your friends over there to sign ...just go and enquire...there is no harm in doing this.
 
Contact somebody in India

Better contact your near and dear in India.
We know how to get Marriage Certificate in India in One day. Get it thru Courier.
That's the best solution.
 
Did No Get

Both the District Registrar and the local Sub-registrar don't want to issue either a marriage certificate nor NON-AVAILABILITY. They will give whatever is there with them which is a 'Deed Of Marriage'. They say that they need to get permission from the IG Office to do that. I don't know where is this IG Office in Kerala, India.

Same problem I may face for my birth certificate.
There is nobody energetic who can travell everywhere to get certificates.

Anyway you can start process thru yr contacts..

First of all, our old parents don't know the laws very well. All the Government offices fool them by saying "no". I know lot of my friends who got NON-AVAILABILITY certificates.

This is something what you can do. In the worst case go to your place and register your Birth. If you did not submit already a Birth Certificate, go to different places and see who can get a NON-AVAILABILITY certificate.

I have a lawyer in Kerala. If you want some help from him I can ask him. But you need to pay his fee.
