same company with a new name -- any problems?

Hi all.

I'm hoping to enter the I-140 and CP / AOS phases shortly (hopefully about 3-4 weeks away from Philly DOL processing my LC).

It recently occurred to me that our recent company name change (from Infogrames to Atari fwiw) could possibly be an issue. The position for which my LC is being carried out and the name of the studio that I work for haven't changed at all -- I believe that Infogrames has owned the Atari name for a number of years and switched to it mainly to become more "recognizable".

Does anyone know if this could affect any of LC / I-140 / CP / AOS?

If nothing else it sounds like I'd possibly need to have some kind of documentation for the CP/AOS interview explaining why my pay stubs have Atari on them instead of Infogrames (which is the name used with the LC).

I'm still undecided as to whether to go with CP (faster) vs AOS (slower but provides for some level of job portability) but maybe this situation is another reason to go with AOS?

Thanks in advance for any comments/feedback on this!

The company name change will not affect any stage (LC / I-140 / CP / AOS). I have been through it myself. Either the SESA or the DOL will send you an RFE depending on where it gets noticed first OR unless your attorney send the required documentation in advance. In my case it was the DOL.

I got my original application of LC back from DOL. Had to sign it again with the new name of the company. That is it.

I am not sure how you concluded that CP can be faster assuming that you will apply at Vermont. I140 itself is taking anywhere from 9 - 12 months, where as if you apply concurrently with AOS, the time required for AOS is included in the time for your I140. You will have a difference only if you are not applying concurrently.

Check out the murthy website to make up your mind .......

Thanks very much for the fast reply!

It sounds like we might be in for an RFE from the Philly DOL since VA SESA didn't notice the name change.

Good point -- I definitely need to make sure that this is still the case.

I mainly concluded this from Murthy's "CP vs AOS" articles and several other sites have cited the faster processing time as a reason to go with CP but the difference might not be that much at this point since the CP time (at least for Montreal) seems to have increased to over 1 year at this point.

According to the latest info I've seen (which could be out of date / flat-out wrong :)) the VSC is currently processing 12/15/01 for I-485's which works out to about a 1.5 year wait (with the I-140 being processed concurrently) as long as they don't fall further behind.

The times I'm seeing for CP are the I-140 time (9-12 months) plus the CP time (about 1 year at Montreal currently).

Hmm, based on those times, it sounds like AOS might actually be *faster*, at least when comparing AOS (VSC) vs CP (Montreal)...
