Salary issue on future employment case

I recently spoke to an Immigration officer and apparently she/he is concerned with my intent to join my future employer (GC sponsor) for a much lesser pay than what I am getting from my current employer. Technically, can a case be denied based on this salary difference?

Any help on how I can deal with this issue?

Thanks.

Depends.
If your current employer requirment said:
Unanticipated clients and unanticipated work locations in the LC and if you were consulting and had to move for ex to CA, then naturally you would make more money.

May be taking into account the cost of living, housing and climate can make a difference. Say, Washington is rainy and cloudy and CA is sunny and dry. And what do you know, you always liked the rain.
