Safe time to transition after GC

Gurus,
if you go through the CP route for Green card and wishing every thing goes fine and you come back get the welcome lettter and plastic card.
What will be the safet time to quit your present employer and move to a different company.
Some say its 6 months and some say its one year.
So please clarify.

There is no such thing as a safe cut off date. 6 months is generally considered as the safe period because, by working for 6 months you would
have demonstrated your good faith intent to work for the sponsor.

The above applies if you want to leave on your own accord.

If on the other hand the employer terminates , for some reason, then periods
below 6 months are also fine.

All the above is information that floats around in the forum and as I said
earlier there are no prescribed safe periods.
