Hi, I want to share with you some, really, incredible things about RTD. First thing I am from Latinamerica, and I have started to work for Export Company as a Sales Manager. The fact is that I got my RTD in order to travel around Latin America. It was easy, and I also have sent my application for PR, I did my Bio 3, etc.
Coming back to RTD, the issue is that today I started going to some Consulates from Latinamerica to find out if it is OK travel with the RTD. These some experiences:
1. Consulate from El Salvador.- They told me that if I travel with my NP, Not problem not requirement, with RTD I cannot go to El Salvador at all. I explain that it is impossible for me travel with my NP, they said you need your GC + NP, not chances
2. Consulate from Ecuador.- Again, there I was told that with my NP I can travel without any problem, but with my RTD I have had to summit: a) A letter from my company (makes sense), b) Complete Police Check background (even thought I explained that I was checked for federal agencies to get the RTD), c) Medical Clearance with HIV test, Hepat. A, B, C ?????, and d) a letter explaining in detail what I will do there. But, the best part, they are going to evaluate the case and they told me they do not guarantee that I obtain the Visa. This is ridiculous, since people from my country do not need even passport to go into Ecuador.
My impression is that the RTD is really unknown in many Countries, and on the other hand, I think that for us that we do not have the possibility to get our NP, the RTD must have a better status. I am not saying like US Passport, but at least as any common passport.
I know that in many countries are OK, but anyway this is my experience

what about Argentina?

Have you ever inquired about the proceedure to travel to argentina with RTD? I am also an asylee (no GC yet). I have friends from Argentina and would love to go there.

Anybody have travelled to Argentina with a RTD?

"Refugee" has a very bad meaning in the world body. If you have a "Refugee" Travel Document, you are automatically labelled as being poor and full of diseases by the world body. Any embassy you go, RTD is looked as if a temporary status which will expire once the conditions in your country are ok.

For instance, Switzerland who was the creator of the RTD(1951 Geneva Convention) didn't accept the green RTD for couple of years it was released...Right now if you have a GC+NP, you do not need a visa to switzerland but a RTD + GC needs a visa..

Unfortunately many countries do act the same...making RTD sound like a horrible thing.
