RTD Renewal

Hi cchong and shamshon,

Here is what the stamp says which an immigration officer put on my RTD while coming back from Uk last january. Please letme know what that mean:

"Permission to re-enter granted as an asylee. If you depart the USA again prior permission is required beforehand."

Does it means that I need to apply for new RTD or what? What kind of prior permission?

Does it mean that once you used RTD you cannot use RTD again to travel?

Please clarify guys i am totally confused here.......

In the I131 form we usualyy write we wanna go to this country on such and such date.

Is it necessary to go to the same country which we mentioned or can we go to the different once?

Thanks

Jalma,

I don't know what that mean either.

Since your travel document will be expired in Sept, there is not lightly that you will use your current RTd to travel agian. I would assume once you receive your new RTD, you can travel again.

Because you did not clarify with the Immigration officer who stamped your travel document, I think you can call BCIS to ask about what the "permission" thing actually mean.

This just blows my mind away. I guess this is a new procedure with which they track asylees and see if they stay in America or they go back to their countries. I would strongly recommend that you call the BCIS national phone number @ 1-800-375-5283. Do not expect that you will always talk with an intelligent and educated human being there but sometimes, you may get lucky. Wish that I have more information to give you but it seems that since you have this darn stamp you will really have to get a permission to leave. Did he tell you where to get it? Did you try to contact your local office? Good luck

i kept my old RTD while i was getting a new one last year, and it was fine. i just simply sent the old one to the immigration office after it was expired

Well, I have been to UK several times and had not problem. Simply they veryfy info what you filled in the visa form as they have everything on this computer. Within in 20 second each time, they opened the gate and welcomed. So never ever had any problem in my case.

With best

I called the national customer service to enquire abt my stamp, she said its a normal stamp and you need to obtain a new RTD before you travel again. She also mentioned that it is going to be taking very long to obtain RTD because of the backlog.

So guys just relax.........
