RTD Approved while other is still Valid

I applied for an RTD on April 24th while my other one was still valid. The other one expires on September 16th...Today I got an email that on AUgust 24th, the application for RTD was approved and the document mailed. The old RTD application(09/16) was also looked at because the LUD changed from 9/16/2004 to 08/24/2005.

So it looks like maybe an internal policy change by the USCIS?

They issued you a new RTD because your old RTD expires within 30 days. If it was valid for more than 30 days, they would ask yo to return the original.

I know mine expires in less than 30 days..but they are not supposed to issue a new one without asking for the old one. Thats the policy. If one is valid another can't be issued..period. There is nothing about 30 days anywhere. THey will not just do things if it wasn't a policy...
 
I had that happened before and I asked congressman's office to clarify that :)
The problem is they may not always stick to their rules
 
wantmygcnow, once you get your RTD, can you post the issue date? just to get an idea, how much time was wasted in 12 months validity, when you get the RTD.
 
I never had RTD , its time to apply.Should i wait till i got GC or start right now?I mean is any advantages/disadvantages .Is it same RTD for asylle and PR??
Im not in rush , and planning to visit Canada , Mexica , etc , Not "Home"!But i don't like to wait 5 months for RTD after GC .
Basicly i'm posting this massage in order to get help from you :what should i do to prevent some mistakes .
I found this forum very usfull:1.i was ready to update my address , but change mind after reading thats this may delay case for 6 months.2 i did my bio few days sooner(i had important things to do on that day).

Well you have no other choice but to wait for a RTD. You can't use your national passport to travel because that would mean you are claiming benefits from the country who you took asylum from...

So apply for a RTD and hope you get it sooner....or hope you get a GC so you can travel to canada,mexico with that..

My national passport exp more than 6 years ago , i don't have any citizenship , there is no way i can get any passport , but i dont need it too.
1.Is RTD for GC holder (PR) is the same as fo asylles and valid one year only?
2.Asylle do not need visa to some Euro countries , like Germany.What about PR ?
3.Can PR use asylle RTD ???I mean if i apply and get my RTD tomorrow and get my GC the day after tomorrow , can i use RTD for the next 36something days?

Answer to your questions:

1) RTD is for any refugee/asylee even who has become a PR. The difference is that in the CLASS category, you are either Refugee, Asylee or Permanent Resident. ONLY Asylees/Refguees can apply for this document.

2)RTD document doesn't need visa to enter GERMANY and thats it. Other euro countries require a visa.

3) If A PR was a refugee/asylee, he/she can apply & use the RTD. A PR can also apply for a Rentry permit which is valid for 2 years. To visit Germany, a Rentry Permit requires a VISA.
