I landed in Canada late Sep\' 2001 and after staying there for a week I returned to the United States. Now my Returning resident permit has been rejected. I am not sure if it is better to leave for Canada immediately or take a chance and hope that C-11 will apply retroactively. Appreciate your comments and suggestions.

my lawyer had advised me not to apply for RRP...since it only brings you

up on their computers and their radar screens...I really dont know what is the legal way of handling this but the safer route is to
go to canada try staying there for some time. chances of C11 getting
applied retroactively are pretty remote.

Yes, the risk is high

I agree with both of you that C-11 may not be retroactive. I am making arrangements to go to Canada - its gonna be a rushed affair !!
