RFEs Issued - Some Questions

I've finally received RFEs for myself and my family members.

1. RFE for self. Employment letter.

2. RFEs for spouse. i. Supplemental form for I-693 returned as MMR was not administered (obviously the doctor screwed up!). ii. Evidence required under Hindu Marriage Act - Memorandum of Marriage.

3. RFE for daughters. Form I-693 and mother's name missing on civil birth certificate. Actually its missing on only one of them but the RFE has been issued for both.

Questions:

1. What is a Memorandum of Marriage? Also, in the absence of registration of marriage, do affidavits from close relatives present at the wedding work. These had been submitted with the application.

2. RFEs say one has to go back to the same civil surgeon. Is that necessary or one can go to any designated civil surgeon on the BCIS list.

first of all congrats for RFE.

Probably marriage pictures, affidavits and wedding card should add more value. Check with Indian consulate if they can do some thing for you.

I had same issue two days back, I moved from my original place (1600 miles) and it's not worth to fly back just for these remaining test(TB-XRAY). Same thing was mentioned in my RFE and I posted same question in this forum, but did not get any reply. I checked with my lawyer, he said it is advisable to goto same doctor, but it is fine as long as you goto any INS approved surgeon. He said he will add cover letter that why I did not goto the same surgeon. He also mentioned that some times same doctor may not be in the business any more, so it is ok to goto any INS approved surgeon.

Thank you, that was very helpful. The civil surgeon we had gone to, slightly less than THREE years back, is about 250 miles from here, and while that is not much as 1600, it would still be a pain to go back.
