At least you have probably gone past the namecheck obstacle :)

yeah maybe lets see what happens.......just wondering what this RFE is aout....di u have 60 or 30 days to answer the RFE ?

Grey, things are at least movin'

I think that no matter what RFER says, you should be able to reply promptly and get that GC in a matter of weeks...so I would be cautiously optimistic if I were you.
Another thing related to the news from you that gives me hope is that NC's are now at least in October/November '06 and slowly moving forward...I am end of Jan '07 so it seems like a short wait....

Good luck and keep us posted!!!

my lawyer received the RFE....and apparently the birth certificate does not have the mother's name on it (it was issued from a military hospital, with just the dad's name and rank.......idiotsssssss) and I have till April 10th to answer it.

Regarding namechecks, i know a few people who applied in march april 07 and they already have their cards.....

Well I applied in February and I am still stuck in the namecheck .... that's frustrating !!!!

If you ask them to expedite it they tell you that they can't put your name in front of the list in the name of fairness ... where is the fairness when you see people who applied 6 months after you get their GC ?!?

Sorry for the venting ... well get them what they want and you will be done :)

MD, you are about 4 weeks after me...

...but knowing my luck, your NC will probably be cleared WAY before mine...

Last year I explained how I got screwed because a relative working for the government put my name on the list of non-US citizen relatives residing in the US for his security clearance documents...guess what???

The letter I got as an answer to my service request dated Jan 17th states that the processing of my case is delayed because there is an "ongoing open investigation of my background". Never heard of that lingo before...
So, like I said, this unfortunate event will probably cost me another 2-4 months as it usually takes 6-8 months to complete these clearance procedures and it was started sometime in August '07...

Let's just hope that once the "check" is complete and clearance issued to my relative, the same "agency" sends my "clearance" to USCIS...

Sorry to hear that :( well it looks like you should be out of that hole soon then !!! at least you know they are working on your namecheck :D

just an interesting thing to note..........

even after my lawyer thotugh aila liason told me that the nc is probably done....the idiots at nsc and the case resolution officer (through physical mail) dated after the lawyer's e mail were sayign that the name check is not done...
