Rfe

I have my I485 application pending. I had my TB skin test positive, but my Xray negative in my INS medical examination. Doctor wrote on the I693 form that X-ray is normal, but recomend the patient to go on INH treatment for 6 months.

I am taking the treatment currently. But I received a RFE asking for proof that I have received the treatment with start/stop dates, medication names/dosage etc... and get 693 form signed from the same civil surgeon who performed my INS exam.

These arethe exact wordings from the RFE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please submit evidence that you have received the recommended follow up treatment. The condition must be addressed, including any additional tests performed, any treatment used (names and doses) with start and stop dates and any changes in treatment. When appropriately completed, the civil surgeon will sign the I693 form, place the original in the professional envelope, seal the envelope and give to you to return this envelope to our office unopened with any other requested evidence.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it necessary that - I could submit the forms only after i complete my treatment or is the proof that I am taking my treatment with start date and expected completion date acceptable?

Since my medication end date would take a month more than the last date for sending in the reply for the RFE, i am quite confused. Can we ask for extension if we can only send the form after completing the medication.

Can anybody shed some light on this? I need help...

Thanks
Sri

Since how many months you have been taking INH tablet? did u check your blood work done to see whether the liver enzyme level is OK or not? sometimes back there was a discussion about the side effects of INH which is usually given for TB (ofcourse most of the asian will get a positive response to skin test). One of my friend took medicine for a month and later on he was advised not to take because the liver enzyme level got elevated abnormally. Do take care of your health. Discuss with your PCP thoroughly.

RFE - TB Test

Looks like suddenly USCIS is concentrating on these. Got the same RFE today from TSC.

The problem is I did not complete the medication. I started and stopped. However I asked TSC today and she said that as long as you send the letter that you are still undergoing, they will attach your letter to the file and keep it aside. When you are send them your completion, they will approve your papers.

please suggest

My wife as a positive skin test and had a normal chest xray.

The USCIS Medical examiner asked wife to take preventive treatment at state health department.

she is currently taking medicines from the state health department.

Tablet: ISONIAZID --300mg

I heard from the other forums sometimes this medicines are risky for your health.

My question is do we have to take these medicines regularly.

Do they do any test after taking this preventive treatment.

can anyone of you suggest on how to proceed or share your past experience?

Thanks

hi shirdisai, vnv, narasre

what is checked yes in the I-693 where you received the RFE:

a) is it checked yes for "civil surgeon referral for follow-up of medical condition:the alien named above has applied for adjustment of status. A medical examination conducted ....."?

b) is there doctor signature under "civil surgeon certification:my examination showed the applicant to have met the medical examination and health follow-up requirements for adjustment of status" at the bottom of the form?

c) I-693 supplemental form : what is checked yes under "3.Results"?

The above would give an indication how USCIS processes the applications.

Thanks.

This is crazy....

Most asians test positive for this...I also took medication for about 3-5 months and gave up in between....Does this mean I would have to restart it all over again? Another 9 months?

Hi banta - I guess it depends on what is on your 693 (for a b c above).

Hi shirdisai, vnv, narasre - if you got a copy of 693 from your physician you would find this information in there. could you share what your 693 says, so it will help others too in the forum. Thanks.

Hey, I looked up on the web, it said...
the medication of INH needs to be taken for 6 months or longer (upto 9 months, if needed)...

My doc had recommended 9 months of medication and I took it for 6 months and gave up after 6 months, as I got busy!

So, may be , I am fine...since I took the medication for 6 months...
