Got RFE requesting current employement letter.

My lawyer has already drafted and sent me this letter for my company to sign. But he is kind of sloppy, and my English is also not good enough. I would like to let you guys help me a little bit about the wording before I request him to make modification.

1. The first sentency is:
"This letter is to support for Mr. xxx's employement with ABC company."

Do you think he made a mistake, and it should be:
"This letter is to support for Mr. xxx's employement letter with ABC company"
or
"This letter is to confirm that for Mr. xxx's employement with ABC company"

2. "Our commpany intends to offer permanent full-time position to Mr. xxx".
Because I have already worked in this company for 4 years. Is it better to say:
"This is a permanent full-time position"?

Thanks a lot!!!

Your lawyer's version is better than your alternatives.

Your first alternative for sentence 1 is flawed. The letter is supporting your employment, not supporting your letter. Your second sentence makes no sense.

He misspelled employment (you got too many e's) and I don't think you need "for" after "support" (not too sure about this one! "To support for" just seems awkward to me).

There's nothing wrong with your lawyer’s sentence 2. Remember I-485 is based on "future" job offer. Don’t ask! It never makes any sense to me either.

May I recommend "The Modern Writer's Handbook" by Frank O'Hare. It is the classic grammar/style compedium used in freshman writing classes.

I think it would help if you do not include the sentence about termination of employment at will, unless your company insists on including it. Do not mention that you are working with them for 4 yrs. Do not mention anything that is not required or irrelevant. You can try this.

This is to confirm that Mr. X is currently employed by us as a (title). The company has made an offer of full-time, permanent employment to Mr. X, to serve as a (title) upon obtaining his permanent residency. The terms and conditons including salary remains the same, as provided in the labor petition ETA-750. Please feel free to contact us if necessary.

I would like to know if the "permanent job"
should be written in the letter. (dose second job has to be "permanent"? one lawyer told
me it is not nesessary)

since some reasons, company doesn't like to write "permanent job" in the letter, even
you haven't contract with the company.

You might be right, if company dosen't
like "permanent" in your letter, at least let them not write any "fixed time contract" in your letter.

I remenber one guy get his case approved
without "permanent job" in his second job letter.

Any guys know more details?

In my opinion, it will not matter whether the letter states "intends to offer full time" v. "intends to offer perm. job" ...it's all intent based and employment over here is largely "at will" of both parties. Should not cause an issue.

The lawyer do say the law dose not require to declear this is a permanent position.

But if the company dose not mind to add "permanent" in the employement letter, at least it won't hurt to write: "His position is a full-time permanent position", right?

For the position to serve as a basis for employment-based immigration, it does not have to be permanent but it cannot be temporary. So the letter does not have to say the position is permanent. It can use the term 'indefinite', or if it came to that, even be completely silent about this aspect. Be aware that if it is silent, INS might very well come back to inquire if it is indeed temporary.
