RFE response acceptance letter & Visa bulletin dates

Hi,
My PD is Dec 2001. 485 pending since Jan-04. Got a RFE in Jan 08 and after replying got a letter from INS stating that a written notice about decision or further action will be sent before 3-May.

Sure enough I got nothing. As per visa bulletin PD are 1-Nov-01. So is it worth calling USCIS and enquire about delay since 3-May or they will simply point to visa bulletin and would ask me to keep quiet?

Please enlighten.
 
No point. Since you're PD is not yet current, even if they've done what they wanted to do, an approval can't be issued.
I'm assuming that your response to the RFE was satisfactory or else they probably would have gotten back to you.
