RFE over Finger Print Fee

While I was checking my I485 status; I got the message stating
"We have determined that there was an insufficient payment for the fingerprint fee for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status. On September 5, 2003 we sent you a notice of this, with an opportunity to submit the fee. Your case is being held in suspense until we receive your fingerprint fee."

Background:
I applied Current processing for I140/EAD/AP/I485 and the ND is 9/5/03.

I spoke with my Attorney about the above status and he mentioned me although the amount was paid correctly it was mistake on BCIS. Although the old payment is cancelled and have been repaid. I still see the same message on bcis even after a month of payment.
Could some one who has similar issue please let me know how to handle this.

Additional questions:
1. Does this affect my EAD?
2. Does this trigger my case to get I140 approval early?

I got the same notice for my wife's application. The date was 25th August.
But the receipt shows clearly that the amount paid was $350 then got a notice saying that fingerprinting fee for $50 is not enclosed.
My lawyers office has contacted them and also sent them a copy of the cleared check. Though I was very tempted to send them the $50 check but my lawyer adviced me againt dont that.
I will keep you updated with my case.
Lets keep in touch on this . I will update my status once I hear from my lawyer or see any change in the status message on the BCIS Site.

It looks like both of our cases were filed nearly at the same time; my RD is Aug 27th and ND is Sep. 5th.
This problem occured only in my case; my wifes I485 seems to have no problem; both of ours case is handled by the same attorney.

Lets keep in touch and update ourself; I appreciate that.

I got the same notice for my I-485 application. The ND is June 2, 2003. My Attorney also sent BCIS a copy of the cleared check. Because my online message didn't change the paralegal adviser from my attorney office contacted BCIS by phone. BCIS told him that it is fine now, but the online message hasn't changed so far.

Did you get your EAD/AP/I140 approved?
I was wondering having this problem on our I485 - finger printing fee; will that affect EAD/AP/I140 by any chanse? although when I spoke both with BCIS and my attorney they told this should not affect my EAD/I140 processing.
 
Yes, I got my EAD approved on July 16, 2003 and AP on July 22, 2003 only after I sent the copies of the cleared check. In fact, it seems to me that filing of I-485 helped the approval of one of my I-140 (NIW). This one got approved on July 11, 2003. I filed two I-140 (EB1-EA in July 2002 and NIW in September 2002).

Hi SafeNH,
My lawyers office has contacted them with the cleared check ..but the status still shows the same.
I think thats the reason why we ( my wife and myself) havnt got our EAD and AP approved yet.
There are people who have theie ND later than 8/25/03 and have approved EAD and AP.
Cant do much at this stage but trust the lawyer and hope that they have done their thing.

Hi NVC,

No news from BCIS yet; still waiting for something... and the finger print fee message still not changed even after my attorney had responded. My ND is 9/5/03; and have not received EAD/AP yet...worried because I am completing my 6 years soon and my H1 is still pending.
I shall email you when I hear something from BCIS and please do email me at SafeNH@yahoo.com if you hear anything new.
