RFE on Special Registration

I visited Canada last year for 4 days by road. While leaving US I went through special registration process. While coming back I used my I-94 to enter. At the port of entry, i was fingerprited, photographed, and was interviwed under oath. It took about 30 minutes. After the registration, the immigration officer told me that i do not have to appear in person at service center for further interview after 30 days. So I did not go for 30 day registration. Now I think I should have done that because I got RFE for EAD about 30 registration. I am completely lawful in the country who never broke the law but I think I am in trouble. What should I do to deal with this. Should I write the facts to the USCIS's RFE? I badly need your help. Thanks in advance.

When did you travel to Canada? If you traveled before Dec 1, 2003 then you were supposed to register, but if you travelled after this date then you are not required to unless specifically asked to re-register after 30 days at the port of entry.

You can read the actual wording of the change in the regulation by going to the uscis website.
