After 24 months of waiting, I finally got a RFE on 485. Does that mean my name check is done?

On June 16, 2005, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or
information in this case. The notice explains in detail what additional
material is needed. If you have questions about the notice, what is
required, or if 14 days have passed and you have not received the notice,
please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.
 
I got the same thing

Though my route through I-485 is different (EB-1-a) and faster, I also saw on their website that they've sent me a RFE/information notice (from VSC) yesterday. I'll be sure to let you know what my RFE is all about-- my lawyer thinks it may just be the request for the I-693 (medical).

Looks like your name check has been cleared.

I got a word from Senators' office today that mine has been cleared as well.

How could you get the senator check the name check status for you? I thought they don't want to get involved in this.

I was also under the impression that they will touch the case only after Name Check and all other things are done. But after three months of my RFE reply, when I checked status using TIP number, I was told that my case is in security area, which I understand is the name check.

I ' m curious, who should received RFE.. Me or us applicants or the Employer or the Lawyer??

That really depends on the senator. As your name check appears to have been cleared, you do not have to worry about this. If in doubt whether it has, you could call VSC, and they should be able to confirm whether it has been.

Have you had any LUD change within the last few weeks that may have indicated the clearance of your name check?
 
The LUD only changed on June 15th, the day before they issued RFE.
Which number I could call VSC to get name check status?

It is depressing to think that after RFE, I might still have to wait for name check.

It is unlikely that they would issue RFE at this stage without name check being cleared.

There is a way to get a hold of VSC officer when calling USCIS at (800) 375-LATE. I do not recall at the moment how exactly do to it. Search this forum for answers, and, if you do not find anything, send me a private message.

Timauti: when you get a chance can you post how to get hold of VSC officer. I am sure a lot of people will find it very useful :)
 
Call (800) 375-5283, then press 1261, then enter receipt number (any), listen to the announcement, then dial 34. If you are lucky, they will tell you what is going on. If they say something like "we are waiting information from another agency, that most likely means you are stuck with FBI name check.

USE SPARINGLY! DO NOT OVERWHELM THEM WITH THE CALLS! DO NOT CALL DAILY! Otherwise, they may just cut this line of communication off.
 
Hi tampaboy thanks for the INFO, so my last LUD 06/14 & the messages didnt change, so ill be waiting for my RFE letter? You think so. Im just waiting for RFE for I-485, because this is the one im waiting for.
