Hi All,

We got RFE on my husband's 3rd AP. We did not receive the copy of it yet. So, not sure what is it about. I (primary applicant) got my approval of 3rd AP. So, I am not sure whats going on.....

Anybody in similar situation?

Mugdha.

I had this RFE once.

This could be for a color photocopy for the front page of the passport.

If you go to Kinkos to do it, just make sure you do not tell them that you are taking a color photocopy of the passport - Its ILLEGAL to take color photocopies of passport in the US

You need to manage somehow.

Thanks mi2004,

I am kind of surprised to see the RFE for my husband. And I am trying to find out what it could be.

Thanks for your input...

If you don't want to go thru the Kinko's hassle, you can maybe scan the passport and print it at home using any decent color photo printer :)

I think max gave a pretty decent idea ... but just make sure that the photocopy is legible ...

The reason I tell you all this is because I have gone through this. I for myself walked into Kinkos one summer evening in 2003 and very truthfully told the lady at the front desk that I need a color photocopy of MY (none others !!) passport. She then told me that color photocopying ANY ID is illegal in the US and she did not allow me.

So be careful ...

People in this country give too much credit to copy right act and still voilate. Maximum number of copy machines are sold in US in comparison to the rest of the world.
At I-485 stage.., every one has to submit a copies of the passport...,
Some questions should never be asked particularly to the front desk.
Remember..., at Kinkos, it is self service.

You can ask them to enlarge it and ask them to write or stamp PHOTO COPY on the color copy. I was able to get it at officemax

It could be either color copy of the front page in passport or asking for photographs (sometimes USCIS doesn't like the photographs). I can't expect anything other than that. I was asked for color copy of 1st page in the passport and I showed copy of RFE to kinkos and they allowed me to make a copy after keeping a copy of RFE at front desk (this is in Columbus,OH). I also sent copy of drivers license just as backup for another form of picture ID.Rules at kinkos may be different at other places.

The fact

Kinkos and similar copying places like MailBox etc... won't take copies themselves and give to us especially when they come to know that the material is copyrighted. Kindoks is a self-service place now like a gas station. There is no need to tell them that you are taking passport copies. Just take their service card, take your copies and pay it.

I took few color copies of my passport the other day. The best time to go to Kinkos is early morning when all the guys are half sleep. Just an idea! :D

I think going early morning is a very good idea.

I was actually not aware of the self-service concept. It was the first time I had ever been to Kinkos ... One of my friends told me that later that evening and when I went again that same woman was there and I returned back :D !

I went again when someone else was there ! :D

The main reason why Kinkos make a lot of profit on photcopying... Self Service. For every page you wasted..., you still pay.

RFE on AP for dependant :: Have fun with this

Hi Guys,

I just got e-mail from my lawyer.

As I mentioned earlier, we were waiting for my husband's RFE for AP. This is the 3rd one. And now I started feeling that INS is trying to put 1% more effort than earlier...... why did I say that???......
because, they sent us the RFE asking for the evidance for legal name change.

Did my husband change the name? NO

Then what happened? The answer is during last 2 APs and 2 EADs, his name was mispelled on either AP or EAD consistantly. Even if his name is as simple as writing ABC. And everytime, my lawyer has sent them letter informing that the name is mispelled.

So, now that INS has ACB as his name, they asked the evidence of change of his name to ABC..... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

"aur hum india ke gov. ko bhala-boora khahete hai"

Mugdha,

When did you applied for your 3rd AP???. How long it took to get a RFE?????.

Thank You,
JKSONGC

We filed our 3rd AP along with EAD on 20th of March (Received by INS on 23rd..I guess).

For me(primary) AP took 3 months.
After 4 months, in my husband's case, our lawyer got RFE on 28th of July, sent by INS on 20th of July.

I hope this helps....
