Hi,

spouse and self got an RFE on 23rd Nov (TSC). Attorney claims he hasnt received the RFE. The attorney has changed his law firm in the recent past. On my fingerprinting notice i did see that the mails still seem to go to his old law firm. He probably has some means of getting his mails from his old law firm. Now its 14 days and i havent received the RFE. So gurus please tell me what i can do to speed up this process. I dont know what the attorney will do from his side. I dont think he cares too much any way.

Cheers

I am not sure what do you mean by "attorney changed law firm". Is it that the law firm changed address or the attrney handling your case changed low firm.

If it is that there is a change of address, have your attorney send a letter to INS requesting for the RFE notice and a change of address form to change their address.

I went throught the same situation. my case ended up being transferred to local office and no RFE received even after 4 months. 15 days ago, my case was transferred to local office.

It is necessary that your law firm inform uscis that their address changed using a designated form and request for a copy of RFE.

Hope this helps.

I am in the same boat

I get RFE email on 11/22, and did not get any mail either.
Called USCIS and they said wait for 30 days and then call back to ask send anothe copy of RFE.

Lawyer contacted Laison and probably won't need to wait 30 days to request RFE duplicate.

Hi mygc1012,

Thanks for your reply. The attorney started another law firm and swithced to his new firm. I do know that all communications from INS still lands up in his old address. I could confirm this from my finger print notice. But since i eventually did get my FP notice from him i am kind of confused now. Do u mean to say that they dont deliver it to the old address. I know that my attorney has some kind of arrangement with his old law firm and is getting all his mails. I only hope this misery comes to end soon. Its always something or the other. Is there anything i can do to intervene and speeden up the process ?

Cheers

I don't think my lawyer changed his address.
Just don't know why the RFE letter did not go thru.
I don't know who my lawyer contacted, but I am in Philly.
he let me call him tomorrow to follow up, I will see what is going on.

Tanjar,

Since each application is different, we have to change the addresses on each application. Though you got finger print to nre address, you may not get responses to other applications to new address , unless your attroney did change address on all.

We cannot depend on something that would be delivered to Old address. It is better you ask your attroney if he has completed the formalities of notifying the uscis about change of address/firm on each of the pending applications. Changing address on one application wont reflect in all other applications. I am telling this by experience. Nobody is sure of how it works.

Hi mygc1012,

Thanks for your response. My attorney is just BS all the time. I did ask him about it and he said dont worry all the mails will be received. I dont understand why he cant follow the guidelines and file change of address on all applciations. Looks like he is too busy these days. Now i am at his mercy, jsut have to live thru it. In case it gets transferred , i am sure he is happy as it means i will probably ask him to attend the interview with me and that would mean more money. Thanks once again for your help. I truly appreciate it

Cheers
