It may not be a good idea to submit some documents unilaterally without knowing what the RFE is about. First reason is, BCIS clearly states that the RFE notice copy should be enclosed with the documents while responding. Second thing, without RFE notice, BCIS might think that the documents submitted (by guessing) were in response to their notice. They could have asked for anything like empl letter or W2 or marriage certificate or even employment history etc.... or a combination of two or more. In that case, if you respond with something else, they may not decide the case in your favour. Third thing, you could be submitting more than required documents which might raise more questions.
In a situation like this, keep talking with your lawyer and BCIS. Make a note of everycall you made to BCIS. Ask your lawyer to arrange for the following immediately, a printout of the online case status check, a copy of I-485 receipt and a cover letter stating that the RFE was not delievered in the mail and requesting for another RFE copy. Ask him to mail these three letters by certified mail return receipt to BCIS service center. This way, if your I-485 was denied due to no response for RFE, you can always file for reopening your case by submitting proof that you never received RFE in the first place. Good luck.
