RFE - need to file form I-864?

I filed I-485 application based on the fact that my spouse had a pending employment-based I-485 application. I just received an RFE which requires me to submit form I-864, Affidavit of Support. The I-864 form is very confusing and does not seem to apply in my case. Has anybody had similar problem before?
