Do I need to send the original W-2 form or a copy of it.

INS has asked for emp. letter, 2001 Tax return and W-2 form.

Anyone, please let me know if I need to send the original W-2
or a copy of it.

Certified copy

If you are sending that document please send a certified copy. If your attorney is sending the documents, he will take care of it. I guess his covering letter indicates that the documents are certified.

Better thru Lawyer..

Please try to send it thru a lawyer..he knows the trick of the game...

I never heard of sending anything original to INS...
Copies will do... but always better, do it thru a lawyer...

You can also get certified copies of your W2 from human resources. They will stamp them with an official company date-time stamp. I sent these with photocopies of my w2s (best to keep originals).

Sorry to hear about ur RFE. hope you get out of it soon.
What was your RD ?
And did you not submit your employment letter when you filed for 485? Or are they asking for it again, even though you submitted these before.

I got same RFE , my lawyer said no need for a notorized copy, just a copy would be fine. He said he has handled more than 30 RFE cases in last 5-6 months.
