RFE for I-485 in L1A visa

I am in dilemma - I had submitted documents in regard to RFE for I-140 which they received it on September 11, 06. I just checked the status in USCIS website for I-140 which is still in the processing phase however, they said they have sent me another RFE letter (Dated September 15, 06) for I-485 (I had filed I-140 and I-485 concurrently). I am baffled as to what my status is for I-140 because I thought they only process I-485 after approving I-140. Has anybody gone through the similar situation? I appreciate all your help. Thank you very much..............

These days they process 485 too without the 140 and bring it to upto the last stage where they assign a visa number. Then once you become current they can directly approve you. So don't worry all this means is that your papers are moving smooth and you can get your approval as soon as your 140 is approved andyou become current.
