Guys I was RFEeed recently and officer #69 has asked for my I-20 alongwith an employment letter, payment stubs, and tax forms. It was so long ago when I graduated that I have lost my I 20. I do have a copy of the certificate from school recommending optional training after graduation. I called my school but they do not keep copies after 5 years. Do you have any suggestions as to how to get over this road block?

I wonder if you did your application or had attorney did it for you. In my case my attorney has all my documents kept safe. If so just ask your attorney for help.

Good luck.

Ask the officer #69

If he has his uncolletible more than 5 year old usless paper, you offer him 100 bucks.

loni,

I'm not sure if this helps ...
try contacting the office of International Affairs at your school. They MIGHT have a copy of your I-20.

If nothing else works, how about the visa stamp on your passport based on the I-20 issued ? It should contain your school details ? As a supporting document, you could include your transcripts which indicate your presence in the school.
A letter explaining the same (I-20 lost/not found and instead the following documents are being sent blah blah blah) should help.

This might work. Heck, what's wrong in trying ?

Good luck.

Jaysee.

Jaysee, I was thinkin in the same lines. I had earlier talked to the same dude who had issued a certificate for optional training 10 years ago. It was he who had told me that the school keeps records for 5 years after a student's graduation but he had also told me he would be looking in the archives to make sure and let me know by Thursday.

I am looking at the worst case scenario, and I had also talked to my lawyer, and we were discussing options similar to what you had suggested. I can also throw in the I 20 certificate for optional training as well, and maybe a letter from the school who can attest to my studying there.

I understand we all prepare for the worst scenario, in most cases we over-worried. Hope any of the sugestions will work out for you.
