RFE for B2 extension

Hi folks:My parents applied for B2 extension 40 days prior to the I94 stamp expiration(8/17/02) however they departed on nov 8 ,INS had not sent any response till then, on nov 20 INS sent a letter for Request for evidence asking for copy of passport and airline tkts. It says if we do not respond the case will be considered abandoned and denied.what shd be done? I dont want a problem with denial as it may affect future I 485 application problem-- any suggestions?

It shouldn't affect your own 485.

Typical RFE, just write to them indicating that you would like the application withdrawn. Perhaps you could talk to Mr.Rajiv Khanna .

It's interesting that they asked for a copy of the passport, as such it is a document not required for this.

Can you also tell me as to what written explanation you gave (for your parents) for "why yr extended stay would be temporary, including what arrangements you have made to depart the US" ? srSpot and others, can you let us know as to what explanation you gave and if you included the return ticket as well..
 
i am talking about future 485 application for my parents. I am also wondering-Since they already have departed US is it legally ok to reply to that letter? Also what future complications can happen if this extension is denied during their next re-entry or if they apply for I 485 down the line?
