RFE after one year of I-140...?!

I filed for my I-140 on 9/23/2003 & for my I-485 on 10/2003. I did my FP on 9/18/2004.

Yesterday, when i checked the case status - the LUD had changed and it says - "On October 21, 2004, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case. "

Is this normal to get a RFE after a year of filing? (i havent got the details yet as to what the RFE is about)

I was issued RFE on 6th Oct. My attorny got it on 8th..my employer faxed the reply to the attorny on 11th...USCIS got it and updated LUD to 15th Oct. My both thecases were approved on 21 Oct. ...now waiting for the approval notices. :)

An RFE this late is nothing unusual. In fact it may be an indication of good things. The fact is, if an RFE was issued tnen someone is looking at your case. Of course, unless the RFE is for something substantial you should expect some good news shortly.
I had a friend who was in a similar situation (filed around 10/2003, got an RFE earlier this month and approval shortly after)

I am in a very similar situation. My I-140 was filed in Oct 2003. I have just received an RFE. Don't know what it is.

DFW, Do you recall your friend responding to the RFE? What was his/her RFE about? How much longer after his response was his I-140 Approved?

KRR, once when you know more about your RFE, Please let us know.

The RFE was simply to request proof of Advanced Degree. (He had filed under EB2). 140 & 485 approved on the SAME DAY that he faxed the documents in...
