RFE - 2 years earning statements

I received an RFE on my 485 asking for 2 years earnings statements.
I was advised by my lawyer to get the earning statement from the payroll register.
This two page statement shows the pay date, gross pay, net pay for each pay period.
He says not to send the W2's.

Anyone in a similar situation, please advice.
