revalidation with copy of I-94 possible ? help

Hi,

I have an unusual situation, while entering from canada a few months back , the INS officer took away my airport I-94 saying that my I-797 I-94 superceeds the white one . Now I only have a copy of the I-94
and my I-797 approval notice, Can I send these to the state dept
for validation ?

the website states that a ceritfied copy of the I-94 can do too ?
any one with any experiance on this one ..please help
