HI , After receiving our greencards myself and my wofe travelled to india after 10 years, Intially I was intended to stay for only 15 days and return back to work and my wife was returning back in a months time. Unfortunately she met with an accident and had severe compound fractures and certain other injuries which made her impossible to travel. She is getting better now but I had to come back after 4 months and she is still wating to get better. She is already in her 5 month and I am worried what if she exceeds her stay more then 6 months.

Will it be a problem at the port of entry, even though if I show the medical proof's of her injury?

Please reply, your reply will be greatly appreciated.

If it is less than a year and you have proof of why you stayed more than 6 months, and proof of maintaining ties to the US (still renting/owning your house or apartment, filing US taxes, etc.), you should be OK.

But if the absence is more than a year and you don't have a re-entry permit, you are supposed to apply for a Returning Resident visa.

Yes, We have the apartment on rent here, and also utilities in her name and also have been filing taxes since so many years, I hope there should be no trouble for her to return.

Is there a minimum stay required in USA if one is visiting out of USA for 6 months (less few days). I mean one is required to stay for few months or days in USA before he can plan to go out of USA for ~ 4-5 MONTHS AND COME BACK WITHOUT aafecting hi sgreen card.
Thanks.

Greencard holders are 'permanent residents' of the US. By staying in the US for a couple of days after a 6 month absence and then heading off again is not the pattern of permanent resident, rather that of a visitor. This pattern will be picked up and continued repeated activity will make USCIS assume that you have abandoned your status and your greencard will be revoked.
