i am a canandian permanent resident, landed in canada in sept 2003 from india and then returned back to india, within 7 days of landing in toronto. now i am planning to move to toronto permanently in aug 2005, to pursue my MBA and then stay back there. as per the new canadian immigration rules, i can be outside canada for 3 years out of any 5 year period. i have been outside canada now for less than 2 years only. so i should be okay right?

1. do i need to do anything specifically before i come back to canada?

2. will i be questioned of the reason for being outside canada for so long?

3. are there any precautions that i need to take care before travelling back to canada?

4. i do have my PR card and SIN card with me. i should be able to travel back to canada right?

please give me your inputs, thanks.

You should be fine

You should be fine as you have PR Card and you have been out only for 2 yrs
If the immigration officer asks why you were out for 2 yrs ( its actually 1.5 yrs :) to today) just tell them that you were wrapping up pending assignment/transactions back home before permanantly migrating.
Best of luck

thank you very much for the reply.

any other personal experiences that you would like to share? any other questions asked by the immigration officers?
