Returning resident permit not used so far, apply again ?

Hi,

I had applied for returning resident permit in Jan 2004,i got it in sept 2004 valid for 2 years till 2006. I am still in US.
Since I havent used it so far, can i reapply again so that i get a more later date, meaning some more time ,maybe if i re-apply, i might get till 2007 ?

Any inputs ?
