Returning on H1B visa about to expire and new i-797

Hi Guys,

I am overseas, and I am returning to USA this weekend. My current visa wll expire on October 1, 2006. I got an H1 extension until 2009. I got a new I-94 with the extension valid from 10/02/2006 to 10/01/2009.

Do I need to surrendeR the new I-94 at POE and expect the officer to give me an I-94 until 10/01/2009 or will I get one until 10/01/2006, the expiration of my current H1B VISA in my passport.

So, that you guys know I showed the Inmigration Officer the nw I-797 with the new expiration date, and that's what he put in my I-94, October 2009.

I will get the visa in my next trip.
